The FD-258 is the standard FBI applicant fingerprint card — the physical, ink-rolled card that out-of-state agencies, licensing boards, employers, adoption and immigration processes, and some states’ concealed-carry programs ask you to mail in. If your instructions say “submit an FD-258 fingerprint card,” this is that service: we roll your prints clean the first time at our Woodlands office, by appointment.

What We Provide

  • Ink-rolled FD-258 fingerprint cards, captured by a technician who rolls them every week.
  • Multiple cards per visit — as many as your application (or applications) require.
  • Cards supplied — we stock blank FD-258s, or we roll onto the card your agency mailed you.
  • Clean, rollable prints agencies accept — legible ridges, no smudging or over-inking.
  • Digital EFT capture where accepted — for ATF and gun-trust submissions, see ATF fingerprinting.
Why print quality matters: agencies reject smudged, over-inked, or improperly rolled cards — they mail the card back and you start over, which can cost weeks. We capture clean prints agencies accept the first time.

FD-258 Fingerprint Card FAQ

What is an FD-258 fingerprint card?
The FD-258 is the standard FBI applicant fingerprint card — the physical card with ink-rolled prints that many agencies still require you to mail in with an application. Out-of-state licensing boards, employers, adoption and immigration processes, and some states’ concealed-carry programs all use it.
When do I need an ink card instead of a digital scan?
It depends on the receiving agency. Some accept digital electronic fingerprint (EFT) submission; many out-of-state agencies still require the physical FD-258 card mailed in. Your instruction letter will say which. We do both — if your agency accepts digital EFT, we can capture that instead; for ATF and gun-trust submissions, see our ATF fingerprinting page.
Do you supply the cards, or do I need to bring my own?
Either works. We stock blank FD-258 cards, so you don’t need to bring anything. If your agency mailed you a specific card or a pre-printed one, bring it and we’ll roll your prints directly onto it.
How many cards can you do in one visit?
As many as you need. Some applications ask for two or more cards, and some people knock out cards for several agencies at once. Tell us how many you need when you book and we’ll have them ready.
Why do fingerprint cards get rejected?
Smudged, over-inked, or improperly rolled prints are the usual reasons — the agency mails the card back and you start over, which can cost weeks. We roll fingerprint cards every week and capture clean, rollable prints agencies accept the first time.
How much does it cost, and do I need an appointment?
Yes, we work by appointment — book online or call (713) 930-1234. The fee depends on how many cards you need, so we quote it at your appointment. Tell us the card count when you book and we’ll confirm everything up front.
